For most visitors, however, shelling is just an excuse to enjoy hours of sun-worshipping along some of the most beautiful shoreline in the America´s and to soak in the unspoiled island ambience .

Real estate on Sanibel Island has a maximum height restriction - no higher than that of the tallest palm tree - very reminiscent of the Caribbean won't you agree. The homes on Sanibel also have more than a feel of the Caribbean, with pastel colours, lush gardens and sandy dirveways. Sanibel has been one of the last bastions of the true Florida Lifestyle for decades and long may it continue. Located toward Sanibel's north-western tip, the J. N. "Ding" Darling National Wildlife Refuge is home to exotic species of birds and plants and is an extremely popular place to visit for those interested in the local wildlife.

Well over twenty miles of cycle tracks meander across Sanibel, add to these over 17 miles of beaches and you have NO EXCUSE not to go out and enjoy mother nature at her most glorious. The simple pleasures of Sanibel are what keep tourists coming back and stop residents from leaving. Once you have been here you do not want to leave and it is this subconscious magnetic draw that has kept Sanibel at the top of the real estate ladder for years and will hopefully continue to do so.

If a sub tropical island home is on your wish list, then Sanibel will deliver. Real estate on Sanibel is NOT CHEAP but then again a quality address never is - you get what you pay for. And if a piece of paradise is what you want, you had better be prepared to dig deep. However with the recent decreases in prices throughout Florida, you can now pick up a new home on Sanibel at prices similar to those of several years ago. Sanibel, like the rest of Florida is on sale and you may be able to get a bargain on this little island oasis.
